Miss Penny Brook - Laboratory Technician

Penny joined Canbury as the Laboratory Technician in April 2010.  She is currently a student at Kingston University, studying Human Biology and Psychology.  Originally from Brighton, she has grown to love a London-based life style, but regularly misses the seaside coast.  Outside of university, she enjoys jogging, cooking and dreams of travelling the world!

Mrs. Claire Dannatt - Sports Coach

Claire joined Canbury as part time Sports Coach in September 2007. She has a B. Ed Hons from Chelsea School of Human Movement (Brighton University) and has 18 years experience as a PE teacher, working in Twickenham (head of girls PE), the Gambia, W. Africa and Effingham where she was also a Head of Year for 4 years. Outside of teaching, Claire is a qualified Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist and has her own business which she has built up during the last 12 months.

Miss Rachel Hanson - Learning Support Assistant

Rachel joined Canbury as a Learning Support Assistant in September 2010.  She has a friendly and bubbly personality and is keen and excited about her new role at the school.  With a national Diploma in Fine Art & Design and a BA Honors Degree in Fashion Promotion and Illustration, Rachel loves all things creative, from photography and fashion styling to drawing and knitting.  Mind you, she only knows how to knit in a straight line, so scarves are the most popular gifts at Christmas!  Rachel has worked with a variety of children from all age groups and cultural backgrounds, even visiting Zambia and South Africa on recent mission trips, setting up medical clinics in remote villages and entertaining the orphaned children in Cape Town and Lusaka.  In her spare time, Rachel enjoys visiting museums, travelling, going to the theatre and doing some home cooking for her friends and family.

Mrs. Jane Knivett - Learning Support Assistant

Jane came to Canbury in September 2005 as a Learning Support Assistant. She has worked with children with a variety of learning difficulties. She is qualified in First Aid, is a keen supporter of Fulham F.C. and swimmer and lists her interests as reading, gardening, cycling, walking and yoga.

Mr. Jeremy Light - Site Manager

Jeremy joined Canbury as the Site Manager in February 2010.  He is an avid music and movie fan and collects rare records from all over the world.  He is a keen bass guitar player in a very unsuccessful band and is a fan of Queen's Park Rangers F.C. (for his sins!).

Mrs. Christine Powell - School Secretary

Christine is the School Secretary and was appointed to join the staff in September 1999. Her duties as secretary are far too many to mention here! She has a wealth of experience having worked in a variety of businesses, has three grown up children and a husband who is an authority in the field of Economics. She enjoys travel, good food and wine, the theatre, the arts generally and discussion and debate on anything from current affairs to “soaps”! She is an avid Arsenal supporter and enjoys watching most sports.

Mrs. Patricia Prieto Maturana - Learning Support Assistant

Patti joined Canbury as a Learning Support Assistant in September 2010.  She studied English Literature at University and in future hopes to gain a PGCE in English.  She enjoys going to the theatre, reading, tennis, swimming and music.

Mrs. Fiona Rabson - Learning Support Assistant

Fiona was appointed in November 2005 as a part time Learning Support Assistant. She is a busy mother of two children and has worked in an art gallery, antiques shop and as an examination invigilator.

Miss Claire Rutherford - Bursar

Claire joined Canbury in April 2005, having spent more than 10 years with the Girls’ Day School Trust as Accountant and then Internal Auditor. Her duties include anything financial, building maintenance, health & safety, personnel, etc., etc. plus she is the Clerk to the Governors. She is widely travelled and her interests include the arts, reading, dancing and sailing. She is a passionate rugby union supporter (“Come on Quins!”) and a keen sculptor.
